Sunday Outing – February 1, 2009

It was a beautiful sunny, clear winter day. We hiked about 2.5 miles in a foot of snow. The paths weren’t very clear so it was a hard hike but it was a lot of fun and we saw all kinds of winter birds.

Temperature was about 36 degrees F

What we saw:
Mallards
Canada Geese (many)
Great Blue Heron – 2
European Starlings
American Crows
Northern Cardinals
Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Chickadees
Carolina Wren
Dark-eyed Juncos
Red-bellied Woodpeckers
Pileated Woodpecker
Downey Woodpecker
Northern Flicker
American Robins
Song Sparrow
American Tree Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
